The fact that construction activity in Sweden has lost momentum is clear. This is confirmed by Industrifakta's ongoing business cycle report, Market Trends Building, where the development for housing construction investments within housing and premises is reported quarterly.

The decline has taken place on a broad front and affected most sectors in the construction market. Primarily, the newconstruction volume has decreased. This was noted not least during Q3 2018 when a record low newconstruction volume was noted. With just over SEK 31 billion in commenced investments, the third quarter last year was the weakest. The new and extension volume for the full year 2018 was also the lowest since 2015, with a total investment volume of approximately SEK 190 billion.
