The order value is almost NOK 275 million (EUR 28.7 million) and the assignment will be carried out as a turnkey contract. The new building will take over all of the functions currently housed in the hospital at Brøset in Trondheim for psychiatric care.

“This is the first time a regional high-security building is being constructed in Norway, and it offers us an opportunity to build a clinic that is functional and adapted to this particular group of patients,” says project manager Bjørn Remen from Sykehusbygg HF.

The assignment to develop the clinic began in August 2018 and NCC has worked together with St. Olavs Hospital to create a building with an area of 6,750 square meters and large outdoor spaces. The psychiatric clinic in Østmarka is scheduled to be completed in September 2021.

St. Olavs Hospital has for some time needed premises that are better suited to psychiatric care. The existing premises will now be replaced by modern premises adapted to the target group. NCC has experience from similar buildings in both Sweden and Denmark.

“We are very satisfied with this contract with St. Olavs Hospital. Project planning together with St. Olavs Hospital has been inspiring and constructive. We are looking forward to starting construction work and we are pleased to have this opportunity to build a functional clinic adapted to patients, employees and visitors,” says Lars Petter Gamlem, District Manager for NCC Building Norway.

The order of almost SEK 300 million will be registered during the second quarter of 2019 in the NCC Building Nordics business area.
