This according to a survey by Boligsiden.dk, that lists the most expensive streets in the country. The second most expensive street in Copenhagen is Sandkaj, located in Aarhusgadekvarteret on Østerbro. Here the prices are DKK 56,800 per sqm.
“The prices in Copenhagen’s municipality have always been high and they have increased by 34 percent in the last five years. So it is not surprising that we find the most expensive streets here. But it is a bit surprising that there is a DKK 10,000 difference between the two most expensive streets” says Birgit Daetz, communications director at Boligsiden.dk.
In Odense the most expensive street is Klosterbakken, it is centrally located but you have green areas as your closest neighbors, while in Alborg’s most expensive street is the new construction area Nordere Havnepromenade, located next to Limfjordsbroen.
It is the central locations that push the prices up, regardless of the city in question.
“When living in a large city, a central location is everything. It can never be central enough. If you want to live in the city, it is not interesting to locate in the outskirts of town. You have to be right in the epicenter” says Birgit Daetz, and continues:
“The optimal location for a house in the suburbs is a fun and child friendly area without traffic. In the city traffic is obvious and it is not something that decreases the prices. This is obvious in Aarhus where the most expensive street is the trafficked but very central Nørrebrogade."
