“I have had the privilege of leading OBOS Sweden for twelve years, and I will also be turning 60 this year. It is time for me to take the next step in life, where I can exercise greater control over my own time. Among other things, I would like to devote more time to board assignments and to the family estate. This is the right time for both me and the company to hand over to someone else,” says Joakim Henriksson.
Joakim Henriksson has served as CEO of OBOS Sweden since 2014, a journey that has spanned both upturns and downturns in the market. Despite highly challenging conditions in a demanding market environment, the company is looking ahead toward its 100th anniversary and the commencement of production at what will become one of Europe’s most modern timber housing factories. The new factory, with doubled capacity, is expected to begin producing its first housing components as early as 2027.
“One of my primary objectives has been to secure a long-term competitive operation within OBOS Sweden across several business areas. We are a company that has existed for 100 years. I am very proud to have been part of this history, and through the investment in the new factory, we are now laying the foundation for the next 100 years.”
Over the past twelve years, OBOS Sweden’s operations have evolved from a single-family house supplier into one of Sweden’s largest residential developers, through the brands OBOS, Myresjöhus, and SmålandsVillan. In recent years, the strategically important investment in B2B has ensured further diversification of operations and increased business opportunities. Myresjöhus was founded as early as 1927 and will celebrate 100 years of timber house construction next year.
“The company has made an impressive journey, and I am convinced it will continue for another 100 years. However, the time has come to hand over to the next person to lead the company forward. I look forward to attending the 100th anniversary, when the time comes, as a guest,” Joakim Henriksson concludes.
The OBOS Group management has initiated the process of appointing a new CEO for OBOS Sweden.
“Joakim has been a highly appreciated CEO and has played a significant role in the development of OBOS Sweden. Under his leadership, the company has taken important strategic steps to remain strong going forward. I would like to thank Joakim for a positive and trusting collaboration and wish him every success in his next chapter,” says Malin Svensson, EVP Timber Homes at OBOS.
