Vingelodden in Outer Nørrebro could undergo a major transformation in the coming years. The former commercial area has been designated for urban development by the City of Copenhagen, and several landowners are working together to create a new neighbourhood featuring housing, public spaces and opportunities for community activities and vibrant local urban life.

The commercial area currently accommodates several car dealerships and workshops, among other businesses. PensionDanmark is now joining the development following its acquisition of a plot of land from Vision Ejendomme. The aim is to contribute up to 400 homes of various types and recreational spaces to the new neighbourhood, benefiting the wider Nørrebro area.

"Vingelodden is located in the heart of Nørrebro's vibrant urban environment. This represents a unique opportunity that we are keen to help realise. The project will build on the distinctive identity that characterises Nørrebro as a lively inner-city neighbourhood. At the same time, we want to add more owner-occupied homes, for which there is currently strong demand in Nørrebro," says Torben Modvig, Head of Real Estate at PensionDanmark.

Before the development can become a reality, a local development plan for the area must be prepared and approved. Once this is in place, the detailed development can take shape through close cooperation between landowners, the municipality and other stakeholders, with a focus on creating a new neighbourhood that both provides additional housing and strengthens urban life in Nørrebro.

"We wantto develop a project that gives something back to the city. In addition to housing, our ambition is to create an area that opens up towards Nørrebro and welcomes the entire local community. We look forward to discussing how best to achieve this with local stakeholders and the City of Copenhagen," says Torben Modvig.
