According to Green Street News, advanced negotiations are underway regarding the solution, which would see Alecta exchange its approximately 38 percent stake in Heimstaden Bostad for properties comprising nearly 50,000 apartments.
Heimstaden Bostad's property portfolio was valued at SEK 331 billion at the end of the first half of the year.
Alecta's investments in Heimstaden Bostad have been heavily criticized. Alecta itself has previously criticized the investment and the shareholders' agreement, which, according to the pension company, provided too little influence and too low a return in relation to the risk.
"This is an investment that Alecta should not have made," then-CEO Peder Hasslev said in 2023.
The pension company has also received a warning from the Swedish Financial Supervisory Authority over the investments and was required to pay a penalty fee.
