Upon closing of the acquisition, Scandic paid the purchase price of EUR 500 million on a cash and debt-free basis. The acquisition was financed with cash and cash equivalents as well as loan facilities under the long-term financing framework announced by Scandic in July 2026.
“This marks an important step in Scandic’s growth journey. Having previously been engaged by Pandox to manage the hotel operations, we have gained greater confidence in the potential of the business. Dalata’s strong market position and attractive hotel portfolio are a strong complement to our business. I am pleased to welcome Dalata’s employees to Scandic and look forward to working together to build on the strengths of both companies. We are creating a stronger European hotel platform with broader reach and an even stronger foundation for creating long-term value for our guests, employees and shareholders,” says Jens Mathiesen, President and CEO of Scandic.
“The acquisition of Dalata is a historic milestone for Pandox and demonstrates our ability to execute complex, value-creating transactions in an international environment. Through the transaction, we have added a significant business in Ireland and the UK to our portfolio made up of 32 hotel properties, with profitable, long-term revenue-based lease agreements. We have already created significant value through the transaction and now look forward to successfully managing a high-quality hotel property portfolio in two attractive hotel markets,” says Liia Nõu, CEO of Pandox.
The acquisition strengthens Scandic’s position as a leading hotel company in northern Europe, with more than 320 hotels in 150 destinations across 11 markets. The brand portfolio is expanding to include the well-known and popular Clayton Hotels and Maldron Hotels brands, which hold established positions in Ireland and the UK, two of Europe’s most attractive hotel markets.
