In her role, Hambäck will be responsible for Axfood’s work with store establishment, development and optimization of the store network, as well as matters relating to locations, properties, and long-term expansion.

She joins at an important stage for Axfood, where we have clear forward plans and a high level of ambition in developing, modernizing, and expanding our store network. Her experience will be a valuable addition as we continue to create the right conditions for long-term, profitable growth,” says Carl Stenbeck.

Hambäck most recently served as CEO of Qarlbo Property and has previously held senior roles within ICA Fastigheter, with broad experience in site development, property development, and strategic investments.

Christina Hambäck assumed her position on May 1. She succeeds Thomas Gäreskog, who is retiring after many years within the group, including as CEO of Hemköp and most recently as Head of Establishment at Axfood from 2021 to 2026.
