“The acquisition is part of our strategy to grow our property portfolio in our markets. We invest for the long term with the objective of improving the places where we operate, both for current and future generations,” says Carola Lavén, CEO of Ikano Bostad.
Ikano Bostad acquired approximately 140 rental apartments in Kungsbacka and took possession of the properties on 17 February. The portfolio consists of two properties built in 1965.
In a short time, Ikano Bostad has strengthened its presence in the Gothenburg region. Having previously focused primarily on developing new housing, the company has built a property portfolio of more than 1,000 homes over the past four years. In 2022, the company acquired 600 rental apartments in Gothenburg and Partille, and in the summer of 2025 it acquired 300 rental apartments in Kungsbacka. The plan is to continue expanding the portfolio, both in the Gothenburg region and in the company’s other markets.
“Going forward, the focus is on maintaining a high level of transaction activity and growing the property portfolio. We are a strong, long-term player, and today we have a portfolio of just over 7,600 rental apartments. We are actively evaluating various business opportunities in our markets in Sweden and Denmark,” says Carola Lavén.
Ikano Bostad established operations in the Gothenburg region in 2015 and has since developed newly built housing in the area. The company has projects at various stages in, among other locations, Gothenburg, Partille, Kungälv, and Mölndal. Construction is currently underway on 150 new homes — both rental apartments and tenant-owned apartments — in Högsbo, with occupancy planned for spring 2026.
