Daniel Kjørberg Siraj has informed the Obos Board of his decision to resign from his role as Group CEO. The Board has commenced the recruitment process for a new Chief Executive. Both internal and external candidates will be considered. Boyden, represented by Managing Partner Ole Petter Mellebye, has been appointed as the Board’s advisor in the process. Daniel Kjørberg Siraj will continue in his role until a new CEO has taken office.

“When Siraj has now chosen to step down as Group CEO of Obos, he can look back on a period of significant development for the company under his leadership. Today, Obos is one of the Nordic region’s leading residential and urban developers with over 600,000 members, and in recent years the organisation has experienced remarkable membership growth. He has left a strong mark both within Obos, across the industry, and in public debate,” says Roar Engeland, Chair of the Board at Obos, and continues:

“Siraj has been instrumental in establishing new home ownership models that have opened the housing market to many, and he has made strong contributions to growth in both banking and housing management. Most notably, he has strengthened our social responsibility, ensuring that 10 percent of profits are allocated to community-beneficial purposes.”

During the ten years of Siraj’s leadership, Obos has become a driving force in the construction industry, most recently with the completion of Construction City in Ulven, Oslo. Financially, Obos is stronger than ever, with recorded equity increasing from NOK 13.5 billion to NOK 39 billion during this period. More than 35,000 new homes have also been built in these years. Now, Siraj wishes to pass the helm to new leadership.

“When I assumed the role, I set clear objectives to build a culture within Obos where employees and members alike would understand and take ownership of the company’s direction. By building many homes, ensuring more people have the opportunity to enter the housing market, offering attractive membership benefits, and providing sound management of housing cooperatives and condominiums, we have created the greatest value for both our members and society. I am proud of the work we have accomplished together and the results we have delivered. We stand on solid ground financially, organisationally, and with a strong reputation,” says Group CEO Daniel Kjørberg Siraj of Obos.

“After more than 20 years at Obos, 10 of them as Group CEO, I have come to the conclusion that it is the right time – for both Obos and myself personally – to hand over the baton to a new leader. In a time of accelerating change, the strength of a fresh perspective and new leadership can provide renewed momentum for Obos. It has been a privilege to lead Obos through these years. I look forward to concluding my work alongside our incredibly talented employees, partners, and the Board,” he adds.
