AI giant signs deal for Norwegian data center worth NOK 95 billion

Norway — AI company Anthropic has signed a six-year, $10 billion deal for computing capacity from cloud infrastructure company Volta, Bloomberg News reports, citing sources. The capacity will be delivered together with Bitdeer from a 133-megawatt facility in Norway and Nvidia's new Vera Rubin chip.

The deal is part of Anthropic's effort to secure more computing power in line with increasing demand for the company's AI services.

The company has also entered into similar agreements with Spacex, AMD and Akamai, among others, and is reportedly in talks with Meta about additional capacity.

Volta, founded by former executives from Brookfield Asset Management, leases AI capacity and helps customers finance the purchase of expensive chips.

In May, Anthropic raised $65 billion, equivalent to around NOK 620 billion, in an investment round to finance new AI investments.
