Hasseln 1 enjoys a prime location adjacent to the World Trade Center and Kungsbron. The acquisition further strengthens Alecta Fastigheter’s position in Västra City and aligns with the company’s long-term strategy to develop the area into a dynamic and vibrant urban district.
“Hasseln 1 is not merely a property but a piece of Stockholm’s cultural heritage. With this acquisition we reinforce our presence in Västra City and add a key element to our efforts to transform Kungsbron and Västra City into a safer and more attractive place,” says Lena Boberg, CEO of Alecta Fastigheter.
The building was constructed between 1917 and 1919 and designed by architect Georg Hagström. Interior paintings were executed by Olle Hjortzberg and Filip Månsson. Originally, the building combined office space with the grand Palladium cinema, which upon its opening in 1918 was celebrated as Stockholm’s most distinguished. During the 1920s, the Bal Palais dance hall was added, becoming an iconic venue for the city’s entertainment scene for decades. After the cinema closed in 1987, the property became a venue for concerts and entertainment until Svenska Spel took over in 2002 and established Casino Cosmopol. Interiors and artworks from the 1920s have been carefully preserved.
“The property features a unique interior with remarkable original paintings, robust materials and a history shaped by entertainment and social gathering. Our aim is to preserve these qualities while developing the building for future use. We believe that high-quality offices and event space will contribute to a more vibrant Västra City,” adds Lena Boberg.
The building is currently vacant due to Svenska Spel’s discontinuation of its casino operations. Alecta Fastigheter is in dialogue with potential tenants.
