With the construction of this new, state-of-the-art terminal in Södra Stigamo, Vaggeryd Municipality, Postnord is taking a historic step toward the logistics of the future. Scheduled to be operational in the first quarter of 2028, it is the company’s largest facility project to date.
Infrahubs is very proud to be working alongside Postnord in the development and construction of this modern and sustainable parcel terminal, located in a strategically important area. “This collaboration with Postnord confirms that Infrahubs holds a leading position and offers an attractive solution for the future of logistics and distribution,” says Andreas Ekberg, co-owner of Infrahubs.
Ekberg, one of the founders of the e-commerce company Royal Design, co-founded the real estate company Infrahubs together with Hans Bengtsson. The company has quickly made a name for itself in the Swedish logistics property market, where competitive pricing is one of its advantages.
“With a background in e-commerce, we are used to operating with low margins, high volumes, and tight delivery schedules. It’s truly exciting to be building the parcel terminal of the future for Postnord Sverige AB,” says Andreas Ekberg.
“Postnord sees continued growth in parcel volumes and the need to expand our terminal network in Sweden. In recent years, we’ve established new terminals in Växjö, Örebro, Helsingborg, and most recently in Norrköping. The booming e-commerce market creates strong conditions for us to remain the leading player in parcel and logistics services in Sweden. The new facility in Vaggeryd will support that goal,” says Peter Gisel Ekdahl, CEO of Postnord Sverige.
The terminal will feature a sorting capacity of 25,000 parcels per hour, making it the most capable in Sweden. A highly advanced sorting machine with more than 1,000 sorting directions will enable efficient and rapid handling of goods flows from across the country. The roof will be prepared for solar panels, with the possibility of battery storage. Charging infrastructure for electric vehicles will also be installed to support Postnord’s target of achieving a fossil-free vehicle fleet by 2030. The building will be designed to support a higher degree of automation than any previous terminal.
“This is more than just a new terminal – it’s an investment in smarter, more sustainable, and future-proof logistics. We’re not only building for today’s needs, but also for tomorrow,” says Bengt Viktorsson, lead project manager for the facility development.
The terminal will be certified according to the BREEAM “Very Good” standard, ensuring high performance in energy efficiency, indoor climate, and overall sustainability. The real estate company Infrahubs has been commissioned to construct the terminal, and construction is already underway.
